Laura

Laura Graves: Operations Director Laura Graves: Operations Director

Laura has a long history of non-profit organizational work, spanning from volunteer coordinating, program coordinating, and directing several different organizations in Missouri and Montana. After a degree in experiential education and a decade of service as a teacher and an Americorps organizer, she decided to return for another degree in the film/video world here in beautiful Colorado. She now combines the two at the coolest video house in town: the one for the people, by the people! She is driven to work for organizations that are a part of a solution, and loves being surrounded by an awesome team.

Ann

Ann Theis: Station DirectorAnn Theis: Station Director

Ann recently relocated to Denver from New York City, where she spent 6 years working at Manhattan Neighborhood Network. She headed the production and education department at MNN and now hopes to help make Denver Open Media a thriving public access station. She graduated from Antioch College with a degree in anthropology and communications. It was at Antioch where she discovered the importance of community media and the distribution of locally produced programming --long before You Tube! was around! Videoblogging has become her new passion; she has been invited to conferences to discuss implementing videoblogging curriculum at public access centers and created an access show called VlogTV to introduce the world of public access video blogs and videobloggers to the world of access and of course she has her own vlog too.

She also co-produces the Colorado State House Representative meetings each weekday morning when the House is in session. Deb enjoys film, traveling, watching videos, finding new websites, discovering new vegetarian delights and co-producing her own public access TV show, The Key of D, which can be viewed on channel 56 every Tuesday night around 9:30ish.

Dean

Dean Tebbe: Systems Administrator Dean Tebbe: Systems Administrator

Dean is originally from Colton, South Dakota, and has training from all over! He has been in Denver 20 years now, with two beautiful & active daughters. Besides playing the role of soccer or softball coach every weekend, Dean is instrumental here at DOM because every wire or cable that exists in the studio, he ran. We rely on him to help us troubleshoot any technical problems that may arise, from the telephones to the servers. We rarely get to see him around here, as he is busy developing his writing skills for film/video projects outside of the office. He is a key player here, as he has been with the team from the very beginning.

The most recent, "RUBBER TRAITS" by WHY?, was featured on the RES magazine DVD and screened in the 2006 Los Angeles and Hawaii international film festivals. It's now 12:43 am on Friday November 7th. There is a show on about truth in voting. Is there any chance in hell I can get a copy to share with family and friends in other places? I'm falling asleep and can't seem to navigate to an option for this and have to awaken early. I'd greatly appreciate sharing the viewpoints of the film maker. thank you! I was wondering, if you guys teach how to do things like websites and displaying video online? How far do you get?

Every video submitted to DOM gets encoded and displayed on this website, with "embed code" that allows you to paste the video elsewhere. Our Final Cut Pro class explains how to export your video for the web, and from there, uploading to YouTube is as simple as point-and-click. The curriculum is available for you to read in our "Take a class" tab. Some of our classes, like the New Media for NonProfits workshop also explain making video for the web. I have embedded that video below, using the embed code displayed with each video on our website.
